SMS Consent and Opt-In
Last updated: July 21, 2026
Parry uses text messages for limited, transactional tournament and staffing communications.
Parry distinguishes between a one-time SMS invitation concerning a specific staffing opportunity and optional operational SMS updates for a specific tournament after a user accepts a staffing role.
Permission for a one-time invitation does not enroll a recipient in recurring messages. Consent to receive operational messages for one tournament does not authorize messages about future tournaments.
One-time staffing invitations
Parry may allow a tournament organizer to have Parry send a person one text message concerning a specific staffing invitation.
Before Parry sends the message, the recipient must have requested the invitation through Parry, initiated an SMS conversation with Parry, or expressly authorized the organizer or Parry, verbally or in writing, to send the specific invitation.
An organizer’s possession or submission of a phone number does not, by itself, authorize Parry to send a text message. A prior working relationship, club membership, prior tournament attendance, or prior communication does not, by itself, constitute SMS consent.
When an organizer relies on permission obtained directly from the recipient, Parry requires the organizer to certify that the recipient personally agreed to receive the text, the permission applies to one identified tournament invitation, the organizer accurately reported how and when permission was obtained, and the organizer understands that the permission does not cover recurring messages.
Parry may retain this certification and related records for compliance purposes.
One-time invitation message
A one-time invitation may contain Parry’s name, the organizer’s name, the tournament name and date, the proposed staffing role, a secure invitation link, a statement that the recipient is not enrolled in recurring texts, message and data rate information, and STOP and HELP instructions.
Parry: [Organizer Name] invited you to serve as [Role] at [Tournament Name] on [Date]. View or decline: [secure link]. This is a one-time invitation; you are not subscribed to recurring texts. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help.
Unless the recipient separately opts in, Parry will not send additional tournament or staffing messages after the one-time invitation.
Viewing and responding to an invitation
- Parry may require the recipient to log in or create an account.
- Parry preserves the invitation destination during authentication.
- After authentication, Parry returns the recipient to the relevant invitation or tournament staffing page.
- The recipient may view the tournament and role.
- The recipient may accept or decline the role.
- Accepting or declining does not, by itself, create SMS consent.
Creating an account, logging in, viewing the invitation, accepting the role, or declining the role does not enroll the recipient in recurring or tournament-specific SMS messages.
Optional tournament-specific SMS updates
After a user accepts a staffing role, Parry may display a separate optional popup asking whether the user wants operational SMS updates for that specific tournament. The popup is displayed only after the staffing role has been accepted.
Closing the popup or selecting “Not now” does not cancel the accepted role, restrict participation, prevent access to the tournament page, or affect email or in-app communications.
The SMS consent control is separate from role acceptance and is unchecked by default.

Get text updates for [Tournament Name]?
Receive operational text messages from Parry about your staffing assignment at [Tournament Name].
Messages may include assignment changes; report and check-in times; strip, pool, event, or role assignments; schedule delays or changes; venue instructions; on-deck or bout-status notices; and urgent tournament updates.
This consent applies only to [Tournament Name] and expires after the tournament and any limited post-event operational period.
Message frequency varies. Standard message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help.
Receiving text messages is optional and is not a condition of accepting or performing this staffing role.
Texts will be sent to: (***) ***-1234
The primary button remains disabled until the user affirmatively selects the SMS consent checkbox and separately required policy acknowledgment. Selecting “Not now” or dismissing the popup records no SMS consent and does not affect the accepted role.
Scope of tournament consent
Tournament-specific SMS consent may be used only for operational messages concerning the identified tournament. It may not be used for:
- Future staffing invitations;
- Future tournaments;
- General Parry announcements;
- Marketing;
- Product promotions;
- Unrelated referee opportunities; or
- Messages from an unrelated organizer.
A user must separately opt in for another tournament unless the user later provides a distinct, clearly disclosed broader form of consent.
Consent records
When a user opts in, Parry may record the user, mobile phone number, tournament, staffing role or invitation, consent scope, consent date and time, consent source, consent status, disclosure version, exact disclosure text, checkbox state, IP address, device or browser information, expiration date, and any later opt-out.
Displaying the popup does not constitute consent. Consent is recorded only after the user affirmatively selects the SMS consent control and submits the form.
Consent expiration
Tournament-specific consent expires after the tournament concludes and any limited period reasonably necessary to complete immediate post-event operations ends.
After consent expires, Parry will not send additional messages under that tournament-specific consent. Consent expiration does not delete the user’s account or change email and in-app communication preferences.
Confirmation message
After a user successfully opts in, Parry may send:
Message frequency and charges
Message frequency varies based on tournament activity. Standard message and data rates may apply according to the recipient’s wireless plan.
Consent is not a condition of creating an account, registering for a tournament, accepting a staffing role, receiving a staffing opportunity, purchasing a service, or participating in a tournament.
Opting out
A recipient may reply STOP, END, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, or QUIT to request that messages stop. Parry may send one final confirmation that the opt-out request was processed. After that confirmation, Parry will not send additional messages covered by the withdrawn consent unless the user provides valid new consent.
A recipient may also withdraw consent through another reasonable method, including emailing info@parrypost.dev or turning off tournament texts through available account settings.
Reply START to resume messages where supported and where valid consent otherwise exists. Opting out of SMS does not prevent Parry or an organizer from communicating through email, in-app notification, or another permitted channel.
